We had just paid for our tickets into Manuel Antonio and had walked no more than ten feet into the jungle when I happened to look down at my feet. My right foot was about to make contact with the ground when I saw a pattern different from the gravel underneath my foot. It was a boa constrictor. I don’t really know how I became air born or what sound came out of my mouth but I had leapt forward grabbing Jane and pushed our group out of harms way. Okay, it was more like I was trying to move and they happened to be in my path but we all made it to safety. A park ranger came up immediately, grabbed the snake by the tail and casually threw him into the jungle. It was really cool to see such a beautiful animal up close, but that was a little too close.
