Gurdwara Bangla Sahib

One of our first stops in Delhi was a Sikh temple called Gurdwara Bangla Sahib. It was a beautiful place made of white marble, full of music and activity. We took off our shoes and wrapped our heads. Washed our hands and feet and walked into the temple. There was a large golden alter in the middle that people were worshiping around. It wasn’t a service, more like a time of prayer. People were coming and going, kneeling, saying their prayers and offering up flowers. As we exited we were given a small piece of prashad, sort of like a sweet paste, as a blessing. Next to the temple was a large pond where the water is considered holy and people were washing in it.
